Revisiting paramagnetic relaxation enhancements in slowly rotating systems: how long is the long range?

چکیده

Abstract. Cross-relaxation terms in paramagnetic systems that reorient rigidly with slow tumbling times can increase the effective longitudinal relaxation rates of protons more than 1 order magnitude. This is evaluated by simulating time evolution nuclear magnetization using a complete rate-matrix approach. The calculations show Solomon dependence on metal–proton distance (as r−6) be incorrect for farther 15 Å from metal and thus cause sizable errors R1-derived restraints used, instance, protein structure determination. Furthermore, chemical exchange these bulk water enhance rate solvent far expected equation. Therefore, it may contribute significantly to proton measured at magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) fields presence slow-rotating nanoparticles containing ions large number exchangeable surface protons.

Long-Range Dependence: revisiting Aggregation with Wavelets

The aggregation procedure is a natural way to analyse signals which exhibit long-range dependent features and has been used as a basis for estimation of the Hurst parameter, H. In this paper it is shown how aggregation can be naturally rephrased within the wavelet transform framework, being directly related to approximations of the signal in the sense of a Haar-multiresolution analysis. A natur...

How long range is contour integration in human color vision?

We quantified and compared the effect of element spacing on contour integration between the achromatic (Ach), red-green (RG), and blue-yellow (BY) mechanisms. The task requires the linking of orientation across space to detect a contour in a stimulus composed of randomly oriented Gabor elements (1.5 cpd, sigma = 0.17 deg), measured using a temporal 2AFC method. A contour of ten elements was pas...

Thermal conduction before relaxation in slowly rotating fluids

For slowly rotating fluids, we establish the existence of a critical point similar to the one found for non-rotating systems. As the fluid approaches the critical point, the effective inertial mass of any fluid element decreases, vanishing at that point and changing of sign beyond it. This result implies that first order perturbative method is not always reliable to study dissipative processes ...

Efficiency of paramagnetic relaxation enhancement in off-resonance rotating frame.

Transferring from laboratory frame to off-resonance rotating frame for the (1)H spin can compensate the relaxivity loss for paramagnetic agents at the magnetic field strength higher than 3 Tesla and enhance water relaxation rate constant significantly. A comprehensive theory for calculating the relaxation rate constants in the off-resonance rotating frame is described. This theory considers the...

QTc: how long is too long?

Congenital long QT syndrome (LQTS) affects an estimated 1 in 2500 people and typically presents with syncope, seizures or sudden death. Whereas someone exhibiting marked prolongation of the QT interval with QTc exceeding 500 ms who was just externally defibrillated from torsades de pointes while swimming poses negligible diagnostic challenge as to the unequivocal probability of LQTS, the certai...
